Do’s and Don’ts so your bling don’t bust.
Fashion and costume jewellery is very different from all other types especially fine jewellery which is generally made of gold or silver.
The treatment and care can be similar, but on the most part, are quite different. Follow these super handy steps to insure your costume and fashion jewellery lasts.
LAST ON, FIRST OFF – a motto to live by!
- Do not wear in water – like the shower or swimming
- Be gentle – dropping fashion jewellery will damage and break it
- Store out of the heat/sun and protect pieces by storing items in separate pouches or on a jewellery stand
- Avoid perfumes, lotions and hairspray at all cost – they will compromise and ruin your jewellery
- Wipe over regularly with a clean microfibre cloth
Glitterarti earrings
Glitterarti handmade jewellery is made using the highest of quality adhesives, findings and acrylics.
Acrylics are delicate and should be treated with care. If you drop them, they may break just like a cup or glass would, so care and storage is paramount. Here are some additional tips –
- Store out of the sun/heat – never ever leave in a car
- Travelling – pack them wrapped in a protective cloth or bubble wrap
- Mirrored acrylic can scratch so store separately
- Do no wear in water (never wear swimming or in the shower)
- Do not apply lotions/creams/perfumes etc while wearing
- Do not drop – you can shatter/snap/crack the acrylic and you can also cause the earring backs to separate and fall off.
- Clean regularly with a dry microfibre cloth ensuring all body oils etc are removed
- Be gentle – mishandling will cause damage
